Fireworks season is almost here, stay safe!

While in some countries like Malta, Fireworks season lasts pretty much 365 days a year, with fireworks being shot into the air every day, or at least that's sort of a how it feels like. Reality could be far off, with only half of the days filled with fireworks in at least some part of the 360km square kilometer country. But if you're living in a country that doesn't have a 365 day fireworks season, it's time to start thinking about the safety issues. Especially as for example in the United States, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are roughly 230 fireworks-related injuries near and on the 4th of July every year.

Majority of fireworks related injuries are burns to you fingers, heard, hands, face, ears, and also eyes. So it's as important as ever to stay safe while having fun.

Here are just a few tips for you to follow to ensure your safety:
  • Never light a firework which has failed to go off
  • Never try to light the fuse inside your house just to see if you can put it out before the fireworks starts. Note - that comes from experience, I did that when I was like 10. Fortunately only with light firecrackers called Black Cat, if I remember correctly.
  • Never shoot fireworks from your hand and never throw them.
  • Always have some water nearby, in case of accidents.
  • Be aware of animals nearby.
