Casey Abrams for IBD awareness

Nearly 1.4 million Americans are suffering from IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), trying to live their lives the same way people without it do, without fear of the disease to stay on their way. Casey Abrams, contestant for Season 10 of American Idol, is one of them. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) about tow years ago, but he wasn't ready to let the disease hold him back in any way. And he finished Season 10 in sixth place. Even though the season didn't go without UC complications.

Now he is again asking America to vote. Casey helped launch IBD Icons campaign to celebrate the unique individuals who have the disease, but desipite the annoyances it brings to their lives, keep on going. The campaign is meant to find and recognize those people.

By now hundreds of people with the disease have submitted their personal stories and now have a chance to be named the IBD Icon for 2011, PLUS win a trip to Vegas to see Casey Abrams perform.

The winner for the title and the trip will be selected at www.IBDIcons.com/vote and you can give your contribution as well. Just head out to the aforementioned website and vote for the best and most inspiring story. For each vote Janssen Biotech, Inc. will give $1 to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) to help them find a cure for IBD. And if there are enough votes, Casey might even shave his beard. How? When? Casey Abrams may shave his beard to raise IBD awareness if ... just watch the video below:
